Today, we stayed around the house all morning and did school. Scott went to Ellsworth to McDonalds to use the internet and work on his own school work. So it left me and the kids to get things accomplished this morning. Spencer was the only one not interested as he sat at the bar and made all sorts of body groans and noises to let everyone know his displeasure to having to “do this” while on “vacation!” But we worked through it to lunch time and finished up.

After lunch (I’m so glad I brought my Panini press!), we went for a long walk up the drive to Dartha Farms. We walked our driveway which is about ½ mile and threw the football and took sandwich bags and caught dragonflies and moths and caterpillars. Dartha Farms was interesting ... very Democratic area. The house was built in 1854 and the barn was from 1859! As we walked down their ½ mile driveway throwing the football, I threw it at the edge of the woods. Spencer through it back to Scott. Scott threw it in the woods, over the electric wire fence and into the cow pasture field. SO? How does one get this football now? By climbing through the woods with his extra long handy dandy walking stick he found and carefully maneuvering it for 10 minutes over the electric fence until he gets it close enough to carefully reach through brushing his arm on the fence line retrieving the ball. That wire wasn’t hot ... and I watched for the cows to be sure they didn’t come to attack us .... thank God ..... Spencer carried the football the rest of the way back to our driveway. Some things just are predictable at this point J

Next we got the canoe out and took it down to the water and put Scott and the kids in it. The water was blowing and kept pushing them farther from the shore and into the rocks. Jack wanted out – Scott was rocking the boat. Erica got out and Spencer and Scott went out. They were stuck. The wind would not let them go anywhere. So they floated onto the shore way down from where they put in the water. Erica had to climb over the rocks to get to them and then climb in and paddle hard to get them back to the shore!!! Hysterical!!! Clyde and I, the neighbor dog, stayed behind and laughed our butts off at them!!

Scott and I got a date!! After the week, it was much needed. We are looking for anyone willing to fly up and babysit each portion of the trip for a date night!! LOL!!! We went back to Bar Harbor and walked the area and shops that we didn’t cover before. We then went down near the water to the Bar Harbor Resort and ate dinner outside overlooking the harbor. We watched cruise ships leave, sailboats come in and a beautiful sunset. It was very nice and almost reminded us of the night we ate dinner outside in Maui for our anniversary. On our way back, we stopped at a scenic area in the dark and looked at the stars. We don’t see stars as much in Florida. We know they are there but well, it’s a little overpopulated!!! Mom and Dad survived with just two incidents and one meltdown......we are praying tomorrow is better.
