Bennington Battle Field

Vermont erected this monument to remember this particular battle in its state history. This battle took place as they continued to fight England. I'll spare you details but it was very important. Inside the monument, you take an elevator 2/3 of the way up. It was beautiful. We met this man who has moved here from Ocala, Florida. He retired 5 years ago and gave us more information and history. The particular street we were on had beautiful houses that were built in the late 1700's and had many signs on them telling which captain or colonel lived in them. There was also a monument marking the tavern and bar where the "Bennington Mob" met ... these were the guys that wanted to separate from New York authorities and create the state of Vermont. Without them, this area would not be otherwise known as Vermont! Interesting, huh? The view from the top of the monument was very pretty. We were saying how amazing this will be in about two more weeks .... .it will be crazy gorgeous ..... I hope it will this pretty in Amish country!!!
