The Vermont Country Store

We left the Lincoln Estate and drove over to Weston where The Vermont Country Store is. We ate lunch at The Bryant House. It was really good food. I had a turkey sandwich grilled with Vermont Cheddar Cheese melted on it. It was yummy but I think my taste has been altered for really cheap cheese or something because that was the richest, RICHEST sandwich I have ever tasted. I couldn't even finish it.
We walked over to the country store. It is pretty much organized chaos with baskets of Vermont crackers and open jars of every kind of sauce and dip you can imagine. It was insane and not what I was expecting, I guess. Well, I don't know what I was expecting but it was neat to walk through and browse all the different items. The kids went directly to the area where they sell oddball toys that you don't find anymore. So they had a hayday in the middle of the store entertaining everyone that walked by. Except for that one older lady who was mortified as they sat REPEATEDLY on the whoopee cushion and giggled and laughed until there was no tomorrow......luckily, I missed that moment but Scott was "sure" proud .... you know what I'm talking about .... one of those moments where we have all said before kids, "I will never let my kids act like that ..." and then you get old and brittle and mature just a smidgen and pick your battles differently ...... and decide they aren't hanging from the chandelier, they aren't breaking things and they are simply having fun .... he handles those moments sooooo much better than I do .... I know that is why God put us together to raise these little gifts!!! So I move on from there across the street while they pick out some candy from the 145,385 choices they have. And then we find each other again. Just in time for Scott to clap his hands together loudly .... right next to the fake chicken display ...... that sends 45,987 fake chickens into a tizzy crowing and cock-a-doodling and echoing through the whole store. I think at that moment, I bolted while he and the kids laughed their little butts off . Who are these people anyway? No wonder New Englander's don't seem so friendly to the tourists .... !!!! I mean, really ...... we still haven't found a fountain machine. Scott still has a pounding headache and is slowly losing more of his personality as the day dwindles. We leave Weston and head back to Manchester to wash the car off. It is a complete disaster outside and looks like we have been mudslinging. AAAAHHH!!!!!! Is that Golden Arches? Is that a McDonald's with the choice of sweet tea AND A fountain machine???? YYYYYEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!! There is a GOD!!!!!! "All hail the power of Jesus' name let angels prostrate fall ....!!!!!" A clean car and a drink with caffeine!!! It is amazing what addicts will do when given the chance ....... my name is Scott and I'm addicted to fountain machines. Maybe that could be his next career. We could move to Vermont and he could hit all these stores selling fountain machines and then drive God's beautiful country maintaining them on a daily basis. Hhhmmm.....we may be on to something....he is just glad I'm having fun at his expense!!! But I'm not finished yet .....

I would have loved this store! I go to their website a couple of times a year just to reminisce and see what is "new".

I remember being bored when my parents took me to Williamsburg one year when I was one of your kids age. But now I wish I could go back there, so I think one day they will appreciate that they have seen these historical places.
