Happy Father's Day

(Atlanta was losing in this baseball game we were watching while on vacation!!) This weekend celebrates Father's Day. Last night, some friends came over. We were discussing the weekend and realized, three of the four guys are 30 somethings and none of them have fathers to celebrate the weekend with. There was a silence in the room for a split second as we all realized that together. I have thought about that all day today. I have thought about people who have lost fathers, who have fathers with relationships that are rocky, and people who have wonderful relationships with their dads. And I have thought today how Scott loves our kids blindly. He didn't have the privilege of having a father who mentored and trained him how to be a Godly father. And then I think of my heavenly Father. He gives him the ability to train. He has given him the ability to be grace to our kids. And He has given him the ability to love them as He first loved us. So when I think of Scott making pancakes for our littlest guy who wanted them (the funny story is in the blog prior to this one), I thank God for sovereignty in putting my family together. For it was He who handpicked the husband I needed, the children He created and gave us and it is Him who continues to give us amazing blessings and memories. I hope everyone I know enjoys their special day as a grandfather, father or son ... and I hope everyone I know takes a moment to praise God for the everything He is to us! Happy Father's Day!!!

AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Jack, Jack ... Jack .... his personality continues to come out every day. This morning, he woke up and Scott was in the kitchen. He walked through and said, "Dad, do we have waffles? If we don't have waffles, I want pancakes. I'll be in the playroom when they are ready," never breaking his stride. Now imagine Scott standing there half awake and "Prince Jackson" comes through so nonchalant as if that request is normal!!! I found it hysterical, particularly when I came out of the bedroom and Scott actually was standing behind the griddle making them for him!!!!

Today, we went shopping for Father's Day. We found some really cute cards, picked up my father a gift and Erica wanted to spend her own money and get Scott some Starbuck's Mochas you get at the grocery store. She asked what he wanted and I said, "Your dad told me he wanted a shotgun." I really WISH someone had been with me to see the eyebrow raised smirking expression on her face. She looked at me and said, "Seriously?" She couldn't understand why he would want a gun when he went hunting with Mr. Sabat and didn't even shoot a gun while he was there! I told her, "well, maybe if he had a gun of his own, he could shoot something!" She still just sat there with this bizarre look on her face processing. And I sat there processing and thinking about what Scott would do if he actually shot something. How would he hang it .. gut it ... clean it .... pack it ... I think we may stick with a bike or something :)

Jekyll Island Trip

We just returned from our summer vacation ... the first part anyway. We spent almost a week in Jekyll Island, South Georgia. We really had a good time! There is so much to do on the island. We biked 10 miles one day. We went to the water park twice. We did the beach, some shopping and alot of swimming. We decided this was the first trip we have taken that we didn't gain any weight on!!! I love water parks but you know, they could install an escalator on one or two of the slides to humor the adults! The kids had fun and each had their special favorite. On our way home, we drove right into Hurricane Alberto! We made it home safe and sound and are recovering ......... and doing laundry :) I'll post some more fun pictures later!
