Fall Pictures Finally Accomplished

I FINALLY got the kids dressed and ready for some updated pictures.  Last ones I took were in Vermont.  We went to Yates Mill Pond and took these.  Some may not realize this but I took the chair with me and it was my great grandmother's chair right out of her garage .... great prop for pictures.  We went through a lot to get the old chair out of her garage!  I wonder if she has any more ..... hhhhmmmm ........ these were four good ones I thought ....

Hollyfest

I got a few pictures of the boys at Hollyfest.  This is a huge festival they do in Holly Springs on Halloween.

First, we had soccer.  It was their final game and we didn't mind since the Thursday night practices were in the dark after 6:30pm.  The closer time change arrived, the harder it was to find my guys at the end of practice!!  The best part of their final game was when they won!  They also defeated the best team that had not lost any games all season.  This was also the team that every parent was close to despising.  The boys seemed quite a bit bigger and there were two boys that always wore their sunglasses and were notorious for sliding in front of you to get the ball, tripping and trying to kick the ball out of the goalie's hand!  This last game, one of them slid in front of our players right in front of me and I couldn't help myself ... I actually yelled, "dude" and looked right at him in front of the referee and said, "He really needs to stop that - he is going to hurt someone."  He sort of tamed down the rest of the game but it was a sweet victory when our guys one.  It really was an incredible game ... this isn't even competitive soccer.  I can't imagine watching competitive.  I would go nuts!!  But they won and afterwards, everyone brought breakfast and snacks and we had them a little party.

Second best part?  Jack was awarded Best Goal of the Season for scoring a goal across the field and kicking it over the goalie's head and into the corner!  It was awesome and he couldn't stop smiling.  And Spencer was awarded Best Christ-like Sportsmanship on the team.  And that was very cool .... it is amazing to watch a kid with his much passion, which can go either direction, and competitiveness but still stop and help up a player from the other team and his team and hear him encouraging.  So we were very proud of both of them.

Then we went to Hollyfest all afternoon with friends and climbed stuff and ate snow cones ... and then we went to a Halloween festival that evening at Apex where Scott and a friend, Michael, competed over who could eat more wings and drink more free smoothies!  It was a blast and we even did a cake walk -- never did that before but we all one a little prize!  All in all, it was a fun day!!!   And we collected some candy but not "too" much candy!!

The Dreams .... and Food

This week, we have had some strange dreams.  For some reason, Scott and Spencer's dreams are revolving around food.  Big shock, I know.

Scott and I went to bed.  About ten minutes later, Scott starts laughing which wakes me up since I was just about asleep.  I asked him what was so funny since it was important enough to wake me up to his laughing.  His response was, "I was almost asleep and I started dreaming and there was a Lorna Doone cookie floating in my dream like a Disney 3-D picture.  And as it was floating out in front of me, I just woke myself up lifting my head up and my mouth open to take a bite of the floating cookie!"  Seriously, this man is weird.  You know it is bad when you dream off food.

This morning, Spencer was sharing his dream.  We were at Golden Corral and some man was getting ready to steal my purse.  So Spencer grabbed a broom and whacked the man.  The manager of the GC let us eat for free for an hour.

And Jack had a dream but Scott and I weren't in it.  And Jack used his reasoning skills.  He said, "Oh Spencer!  You had a dream about mom and dad last night?  Oh .. that must have been why they weren't in my dream last night because they were in your head."   And Scott said he was serious.

Now that cracks me up!!!
