And then THERE WERE FOUR!!

Okay, so Jack starting kindergarten was a "little" dramatic for me. He started Monday; I found a puppy on Thursday. It wasn't my fault! I wasn't intending to be in the pet store but there was this dog and it just kept looking at me and I WAS VULNERABLE!!! But I did sleep on it for three days and we did talk it over so let me introduce you to Chip, The Pearce Family Dog! He is four months old now. He is a cock-a-poo. Doesn't bother my allergies at all and he is incredible with the kids. They are in love with him and he has become the family pet! So this is my first dog in my 35 years of life and I like dogs!! I love the company, I love the devotion and loyalty and unconditional love and he is just a great addition. And you would be amazed at how helpful reading a book on dogs is when you don't know anything!!! I have learned so much!!! And he is so soft too.

First Things First in August

Well, it happened. As I sat on the couch 5 years ago giving my third child a bottle while Scott sat in the recliner giving our second child a bottle, we said, "This will get easier .. oh just think, when Erica is in 5th grade, Spencer will be in 1st and Jack will be in kindergarten! Oh, that is so far away." And we woke up in August, and it was over in the blink of an eye. Jack started school August 7th at 8:15am. At noon that day, I was sitting on the couch with Scott. We were eating lunch in the quiet and watching The Cosby Show. And we said, "This is what it has come to.." I suddenly felt old!! I can't believe they are all gone. ALL those times I wished away the crying, the potty training, the diapers, the whining and such, I would give anything to have it back! What IS WRONG WITH ME????!!! I finally get it when people say enjoy it while you have them. Now? It isn't as physically demanding. It is easier in the respect of that. But the mental? NOONE warned me about the mental demand! The negotiating, manipulating, incredibly tricky and smart kids that live with you! And they are on their toes AT ALL TIMES and there is NO way you can even let your guard down for a second! It is HYSTERICAL at times! So if you are reading this with tiny kids in the background I can tell you this. Turn around and look at them. REALLY look at them. Because it will be over before you know it. And Jack has done great! He is reading already and he loves the activity - computers is his favorite class! And he already found the prettiest girl in his class. We were floating in the pool on his second day and I asked him if there were pretty girls in his class. He put his hand on his heart and layed back on the float and said very exaggerated, "Mom .. there is this girl and she has brown hair and wears ribbons in it. She is SOOO pretty!" I thought I was going to cry ......................... before I know it, she'll be bringing the girl home to meet me. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S FINALLY DONE!!!

Okay ... so for those who have known or been in our home, we remodeled our kitchen. We actually tore it out July 13th. I was gone that week with the kids to see family in West Virginia so I came home on the 19th to no kitchen. And yes, August 30th, they finally finished it!!! OH MY GOSH! Just to have a sink again with plumbing? That was the most exciting thing! I think the angels in my heart sang the hallelujah chorus that day :) And this week, I have been cooking up a storm and having so much fun just pitter-pattering around and getting things done and cleaned up. And the kids have even been funnier. Today, I fixed rice with dinner and Spencer said, "Mom, did you make this rice because you haven't made this for us in a long time! And this is the bestest chicken ever .. you can fix this every night!!" I think they were just as glad to have a homecooked meal in a finished kitchen!! YEAH!!!!!! For all of my friends that fed us, thank you!
