Houston, we have a problem. For those who know Spencer and know him well, he has had this receiving blanket with balloons on it since birth. Here is a picture of him with it and along with his "key-key" went his thumb. Well, key-key, or now that we are older, blankie, is missing. He has been gone for four days. Which means he hasn't sucked his thumb very much either. So to make it easier, I explained to him that "maybe blankie thinks it is time for you to be a really big boy and now that you have a few loose teeth, maybe he is hiding and just helping you get ready to stop sucking your thumb and be a seven year old." His response was (exasperated), "MOM, blankie doesn't have legs and he doesn't EVEN have a brain." Hmmm.....it gets a lot harder to explain things with children who have reasoning skills now. Okay, point taken. Well tonight, we had the melt down of the century over tying shoes. Thirty minutes later, (he is still crying and in a raging fit!) I am in tears and God spoke softly in my ear, "it's not about the shoes ..." So I found this picture of him and it put it back into perspective. As much as I want to raise boys into independent, mature Godly men who have integrity and wisdom, I need to just stop sometimes and tie their shoes!!!!!! Okay, God. Thanks for the reminder.........and thanks for Your faithfulness..............
